A grand day out to Mont Saint Michel

Last Tuesday, September 26th, I went with Rosa Parks middle school students to visit Mont Saint Michel. It was a beautiful day, perfect for a day out. We rode to Mont Saint Michel together in a big bus. The students were very excited when they saw it. When we arrived we all had to take off our shoes to walk across the bay of Mont Saint Michel.

We met our guide and he explained that we needed to be careful and walk quickly so that we didn’t get stuck in the quicksand (sable mouvant). We started our long walk across the bay. Soon, the students walking at the front of the group found the first spot of quicksand.

All the kids had so much fun playing in the quicksand! Later, we had to walk through water also. Everyone who wore long pants got super wet. Then, we stopped to have lunch facing Mont Saint Michel. After lunch the students played in the water nearby, and others drew pictures of Mont Saint Michel.

Then we walked back to the bus.The kids had fun on that day, jumping and splashing in the water. Finally we said goodbye to Mont Saint Michel, got on the bus, and drove back to the school.
